Boarding Assistant - Keio Academy of NY
The Boarding Assistant lives in a private apartment with approximately 40 students in each Dormitory House and provide supervision on all aspects of student’s dormitory life. Boarding Assistants works collaboratively with Head of House and generally works 5-6 days per week including weekend shift while the school is in session, generally from around 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.
During nighttime hours between 11:00 p.m.-7:00 am., it will be on-call hours. Depending on the schools’ needs, extra work hours may be required. Boarding Assistants may be asked to work in rotation during Thanksgiving holidays to supervise students who remain at the dormitory. In return, Boarding Assistant will enjoy long paid breaks during summer and December-January holiday season.

Salary: Starting at $30,000 (DOE)

Essential Job Functions
Student Life Support
Ensure to provide the safe environment for the students at the dormitory.
Ensure that students follow daily schedule set by the school in the morning and evening.
Provide all round of support for students during non-academic hours, which includes helping them to focus on academic works, making routine security rounds on campus, and coordinating with nurse to care for sick students.
Provide supervision to school activities such as house sports practice, club activities, library and evening study hour as assigned.
Be available to students, as necessary, to support their personal, educational and academic needs.
Answer questions and concerns from parents. Direct the questions/concerns to the right contact.
Provide independent living skill (ILS) class as part of Academic Extension Program.
In case of emergencies during nighttime, chaperon sick/injured students to ER.
Plan and carry out various fun events for students (ex. House party, games, shopping tour, etc.) both on campus as well as off-campus.
Pick up mail and packages for students from a storage room or the Administration Office
Ensure all students evacuate safely from the Resident Hall during fire drill and emergency.
Office desk duty: handle various requests from students, check students’ sign-in and sign-out.
Other duties to be assigned by Head of House, Dean of Boarding or Director of Boarding Logistics
Other & Miscellaneous
If Boarding Assistant is suitably qualitied and asked by Chairs of Department to teach some classes of Core Curriculum, Boarding Assistant will be remunerated $30 per class.
Maintain high ethical standards in the work place.
Maintain good communication with other staff, managers & outside contacts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year College or university.
A few years of teaching/supervising experience at educational institutions preferred, but not must.
CPR, First Aid is preferred. The school provides an opportunity to obtain certificates after employment.
