About Us

The Japan Exchange & Teaching Program Alumni Association New York (JETAANY) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and a network of JET Program alumni in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The JET Program is an initiative run by the Japanese government and aims to promote grass-roots internationalization at the local level throughout Japan, inviting graduates around the world to participate in local initiatives and assist in teaching English and support internationalization efforts at Boards of Education at local government offices and schools.

JETAANY devotes its resources to multiple fronts. We are a network and resource for participants of the JET Program, both departing and returning to New York City. These include helping with pre-departure events to help prepare departing JETs for their new life in Japan, and welcome back receptions and career forums for those returning and acclimatising to life in New York City while also holding many events for alumni to share memories, experiences, and love for their time in Japan.

JETAANY also prides itself on fostering understanding and shared culture between the U.S. and Japan with our vibrant, engaged and diverse community through a range of initiatives, programs and events. We have hosted events at The Met, MoMA, as well as annual programs such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters (BB/BS) of New York City and assist with many other initiatives aimed at strengthening the ties between Japan and communities across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. JETAANY is a volunteer-run 501(c) non-profit. We use donations to help run our initiatives and programs dedicated to strengthening relations between Japanese and American communities in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania as well as being a resource for participants in the JET Program, both those about to leave and those who have returned after their time on the program.
