Stacy Smith
Stacy Smith is a freelance Japanese interpreter, translator and writer. She works in fields as varied as fashion, film, law, finance, literature and real estate. She was introduced to Japanese in high school, where she fell in love with Japan’s language and culture. Stacy continued her studies of Japanese at Brown University, where she concentrated in East Asian Studies. Her first trip to Japan was as an exchange student to Kyoto during her junior year of college. Following graduation, she returned to Japan on the JET Program as a CIR at Kumamoto City Hall, where she worked for three years. Stacy’s other Japan adventures included translating and interpreting for Toyota, and serving as a volunteer interpreter on Peace Boat. She lives in Forest Hills with her partner, and loves books, film, live music, craft beer and outdoor activities.
