Kate Emory
Pittsburgh Subchapter Representative
Hyogo, 2006-09
Originally from the PA/MD border, Kate Emory is a cheerleader for all things Pittsburgh. Originally coming to the 'big city' to study at Chatham College (BA History-Art History), Kate's interest in Japan grew after living in the international dorm with a Japanese roommate. A living cliché of "study abroad will change your life" Kate studied at Doshisha Women's College in Kyoto, Japan for a semester. After completing her degree she was a Junior High School ALT on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture from 2006 - 2009.
She was active in Hyogo-AJET and enjoyed the island lifestyle. Kate is now the International Student Services coordinator at Chatham University. In this role she advises students and the institution on immigration matters, manages exchange and partner programs, including several in Japan, and develops programs for the local and campus communities on cross-cultural communication.
