Craft Night: Origami Crane “Foldraiser” (Thurs, 8/15)

Date: Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024

Time: 6:30 pm EST

Location: Bryant Park (check the Facebook Event for exact location)

Details: You may know Sadako Sasaki as the young victim of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima whose story was immortalized in the children's novel Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. Recently, a statue of Sadako was stolen from Seattle's Peace Park. Several groups have launched a campaign to raise funds to replace the statue and are also encouraging others to host "foldraisers" to supply strings of paper cranes to decorate the park until a new statue can be installed. Come fold these beautiful symbols of peace with us as we reflect on Sadako's moving story. Origami paper will be supplied but you are welcome to bring your own (6x6 in or thereabouts).

*If you prefer to fold in the comfort of A/C and Netflix, you can arrange to pass your completed cranes to Christy or Monica.*

RSVP: This event is FREE and registration is not required, but let us know you’re coming and check for updates on the Facebook Event.
