Book Club: NAILS AND EYES (Thurs, 3/21)
Date: Thursday, March 21, 2024
Time: 7:00-8:30 pm EST
Details: Join us in March as we discuss Kaori Fujino's Nails and Eyes, a feminist horror novella + short story collection in which an unforgettably creepy child narrator weaves uncanny tales about her new stepmother. Originally published in Japanese in 2013, Nails and Eyes (爪と目) was awarded that year's Akutagawa Prize. This is only 112 pages so it's a perfect way to ease into JETAANY Book Club if you have been wanting to join!
Next up: In May we will discuss Lady Joker, Vol. 1 by Kaoru Takamura. It is quite long (600 pages) so plan accordingly!
RSVP: Register for Zoom Link and check for updates on the Facebook Event.
Contact: For questions, suggestions, or to join the email distribution list, send a note to Christy Jones at bookclub@jetaany.org.
About JETAANY Book Club
The JETAANY Book Club is open to anyone with an interest in Japan and a love of reading. Past selections have included Japanese classics, contemporary fiction, non-fiction, YA and graphic novels, from Japanese, Japanese American and non-Japanese authors. The common thread is JAPAN! Please join us for a casual, nonjudgmental discussion with JET alum and friends. While we used meet in person over pizza, we'll be gathering virtually for the time being. Feel free to eat and drink during the meeting. Joining late is OK, too!
