Book Club: HIROSHIMA (Wed, 9/13)

Detail of The New Yorker cover from Aug. 31, 1946, and the paper band that accompanied the issue.

Date: Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Time: 7:00-8:30 pm EDT

Details: In August 1946, The New Yorker devoted an entire issue to journalist John Hersey's account of the aftermath of the atomic bombing of the city of Hiroshima, conveyed through the memories of six survivors. The piece was later published as a book. In 1999, NYU's journalism faculty ranked the original article as the top work of American journalism of the 20th century. Join us as we discuss this groundbreaking - and heartbreaking - classic. (Note: Be sure that your copy includes the 5th chapter, which was added in 1985.)

RSVP: Register for Zoom Link and check for updates on the Facebook Event.
