Call for Candidates for JETAANY Board of Directors, Deadline 12/8/2019

Position Descriptionand Qualifications:

JETAANY is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organizationand hence requires a Board of Directors. Overall governance and guidance of theorganization lies in the hands of the Board, which also serves to advance theorganizations mission and provide a platform for ideas for the executivecommittee. The Board of Directors is comprised of a group of experienced formerJETs all who have a keen interest in the continued success of the JET Programand JETAANY.

The Board is distinct from the executivecommittee, which is the group of individuals who run the day-to-day activitiesof the organization. The President of JETAANY (currently Andy Shartzer) is theonly executive committee member to sit on the Board of Directors and is responsiblefor reporting on the overall activities of the organization on a quarterlybasis. The Board is comprised of individuals who serve for two years.

For more information about the current Boardof Directors, please refer to the JETAANY website at https://jetaany.org/about/board-of-directors/. TheBoard is actively recruiting new board members to replace outgoing members whohave completed their two-year term.

In order to be considered for a seat on theBoard, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications:

1. Five or more years ofpost-JET work experience in any field
2. Strategic thinker
3. Active within the JETProgram / Japan / Education / Non-Profit / Japanese business community
4. Two-year commitmentwith a minimum requirement to attend four meetings annually
5. Ability to lead a subcommitteecommitment possibly requiring additional meetings
6. Monetary supportthrough our “Give and Get Program”.  Allboard members are asked to give $50 and get $200 each year during their term.
7. Attend select JETevents

Interested candidates should submit a resumeand a 100 word or less statement of interest explaining why you would like tobe considered as a candidate to elections@jetaany.org by 11:59 pm EST Sunday,December 8th.

The board will review candidate statements ofinterests and post them on the JETAANY.org website by Monday, December 9.A general election will subsequently be held, with new Board members to beinstated by Monday, January 1^st.Candidates should feel freeto approach any board members with questions or email elections@jetaany.org or monica.yuki@jetaausa.com regardingquestions on the process or board position responsibilities.
