2019 Onigiri Making Workshop [Sun, 11/17]
For the second year in a row, JETAANY, JAA, and theConsulate will be joining in a pre-Thanksgiving community volunteer effort onNovember 17th to make onigiri, or riceballs, for a good cause that will benefitpeople of all ages.
We’ll be participating in an "Onigiri Action" event started by the Japanese nonprofit, Table for Two, in which each social media posting of our onigiri will provide 5 school meals to children in need in the U.S. and East Africa (this is funded by Japanese corporations). More info HERE
Additionally, this year, we will be able to donate the onigiri to Japanese seniors at Isabella House, an independent living center for elders in Inwood.

JETAANY, the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Alumni Association of New York will provide all onigiri-making supplies. JAANY (The Japanese American Association of New York), HAA (Hoshuko Alumni Association), and other local Japan-related groups will join in to make onigiri -- the Japanese childhood staple -- to feed those within, and those connected to, our community.
