The Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE/USA) is seeking a full-time program associate to work closely with a program director in implementing JCIE’s global health programs. A NY-based nonprofit organization, JCIE/USA strengthens US-Japan relations by conducting exchanges for political leaders, fostering dialogue between policymakers and researchers, and serving as a catalyst for bilateral cooperation on shared challenges such as global health, international development, and humanitarian assistance.

This is an entry-level job that requires considerable flexibility and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities will include:
Global Health Program Support (60%)
• Work closely with the global health program officer to implement JCIE’s global health programs
• Help write and edit grant proposals, reports, and other English language content
• Prepare expense reports and track grant budgets
• Correspond with vendors, partner organizations, donors, and other parties necessary for program
• On occasion, assist with background research on global health issues
Other JCIE Program Support (20%)
• Assist with other JCIE programs on an as-needed basis including event planning, research, and other activities related to our exchange programs and initiatives on democratic governance, healthy aging in Asia, and others
Support for General Office Administration (10%)
• Handle incoming calls, help in reaching out vendors, and support for general office operations
• Make travel reservations and other logistical arrangements
Support for Communications, Website, & Office IT (10%)
• Help to draft website updates, assist with email newsletters, etc.
• Basic support to manage internal IT systems (server, office network, etc.) and maintain office
database systems

Preferred Attributes & Qualifications:
• Strong interest in global health and international development
• Curious to learn about US-Japan relations, the nonprofit sector, and international affairs
• Team player who is willing to work in a small office environment with a can-do attitude
• Strong English-language writing and communications skills
• Detail-oriented, yet flexible, with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment
• English fluency required; proficiency in Japanese a big plus
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Bachelor’s degree required

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, competitive in the nonprofit sector
