There were 300 people in attendance who purchased nearly $4000 worth of raffle tickets! It was a fun-filled night attended by JET Alumni, college students, Japanese expatriates living in New York, and members of the Japanese press.   The event started promptly at 6:30, with many attendees arriving early. By 7:00 pm, there was already a line outside Slate. In attendance were reporters from Fuji TV, TV Tokyo, NHK, Bi-Daily Sun New York, and the Asahi Shimbun who took footage and interviewed guests.     April 5 Fundraiser Raises Over $10,000!

    The JET Alumni Association of New York, in partnership with NY de Volunteer, raised approximately $10,700 during our three-hour Fundraiser for Japan on Tuesday night at Slate in Midtown!   • <div class="at-above-post-arch-page addthis_tool" data-url="https://jetaany.org/2011/03/30/413-april-book-club-meeting/"></div>Spring has (mostly) sprung and it’s time for another great Book Club discussion.  This time, we are reading “Naoko” by Keigo Higashino.  According to Amazon, “Expertly interweaving the real and the unreal, Naoko involves a working man, Heisuke, whose wife dies in a bus accident. His young daughter survives, but seems to be inhabited by her mother’s personality.” It is a great character novel and we look forward to another great discussion. When: 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 13th Where: Flatiron Building, 23rd St. and Broadway.  Some of our wonderful members have found a nice space in there for us.
