Ikebana (Japanese Floral Design) Class

When : On Saturday, October 16 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Where: Megan’s apartment In Long Island City

Cost : $35 ($20 for lecture fee / $15 for flower and material fee)
Application deadline: October 14, 2010 (Minimum participation is 5, maximum of 10)
Ikenobo Ikebaka instructor, Yasuko Otsue will give a brief history of Ikenobo ikebana,
conduct a demonstration of an arrangement, and help you explore making your
own arrangement. The style you will create is called moribana, which is one of the
subcategories of free style arrangements. Yasuko is a member of the Ikenobo NYC
chapter, where she has studied ikebana for the past 10 years. She has given ikebana
workshops and lectures at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Columbia University,
and has provided services at various venues in NYC including SOFA exhibits and Winter
Antiques Shows at Park Avenue Armory. Materials are provided for class by Noritaka
Noda, assistant branch chief of Ikenobo NYC chapter and also to take home with so you
