The Mainichi Newspapers is looking to hire a full-time researcher for its New York bureau. As a long-established publication and one of the top 5 in national newspaper circulation worldwide, working with Mainichi will surely provide excellent experience to entry-level journalists, or any individual seeking a future in Asia- or Japan-related fields.

Researcher\’s duties include research on a wide range of topics, arranging interviews, transcription, tasks relating to office management, and assisting the bureau chief for reporting, with a focus on politics, international diplomacy and social issues. Applicant must be creative and resourceful, have a strong interest in current events and keen research skills. Foreign language fluency is not required, but appreciated. We are located in Midtown East and our hours are from 10 am to 6 pm. Assistance may be required for news events occurring outside of working hours; overtime will be compensated.
