Pam, me, Kirsten, Alexis (and an unseen Carleen in the photos) represented alumni from the JET Program at the CUNY International Opportunities Fair on March 5th. A lot of people came and we had a really good crowd at the table (though not too many seemed to have heard of JET yet). Maybe you could put one of the pics in the JQ magazine/JETWit site even though they’re not that great.

On behalf of the JETAA NY Board of Directors, we hope this message finds you well! As we approach another election season for our executive officers, we wanted to reach out to everyone with a quick timeline of the selection process for those that might be interested in running for an officer seat. In accordance with our bylaws, the selection of executive officers will be made by the Board of Directors based on the platforms that are received. As always, the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary roles are those seats that are open to interested members. While some of our current officers may run again, all 4 positions are open for the 2010 term. We encourage anyone who is interested in a position to please submit a platform. Position descriptions are online here. Officer positions are held for one year starting April 1 and ending March 31 the following year.

The approximate time line for the election process is as follows:

February 24: Platforms Due / Quarterly Meeting: Meet the Candidates

March 1-15: Platforms are evaluated by Elections Committee

March 16 – March 19: Confirmation of Votes by Board of Directors

March 20: Election Results Announced via Email

April 1: Position Term Begins

If you wish to be considered for a JETAA NY executive officer position, please send your platform to elections@jetaany.org by February 24, 2010. Your platform will be reviewed by the elections committee and selections will be made by a vote of the Board of Directors.

Good luck to all our potential candidates!
