Sure, you’ve been all over Manhattan , but what about around Manhattan ? Come and join JETAANY for a tour of Manhattan via yacht! The yacht will cruise around the Island and Statue of Liberty, giving you an amazing view of the cityscape at sunset. You’ll also have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the New York City Waterfalls project that’s happening this summer. JET alum tickets are $15, and for those who want to come as a couple you may also bring one guest for the same price. The price includes the yacht fee AND dinner buffet with both veggie and non-veggie edibles. A cash bar is also on board to buy your drinks. Tickets are limited and will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis, so please RSVP to Meredith secretary@jetaany.org as soon as possible if interested.

Always wanted to get to Mitsuwa mega supermarket for some Japanese goods but didn’t have an opportunity to go? Mitsuwa is having it’s annual summer fest in two weeks and JETAANY is planning to group together to travel across state lines for some bon odori and taiko excitement.  More info related to this event will come in next week’s announcements.

Okay, so this may just be the cheapest place to get beer in all of Manhattan!  Happy hour runs from 4pm to 8pm with $1 draft beer (Miller, Bud light and Yuengling) and $3 well drinks.  Try to come early so we can stake out the back patio and create our own mini JETAANY beer garden! If you are able to get there early please contact her at social@jetaany.org so we can coordinate some table savers.

Calling all players!

The annual softball tournament is coming up and we need to gather players for our JETAANY Jet-alum team.  Even if you’re not the softball-playing type, we are always in need of cheerleaders to sit on the sidelines and send good spirits to our players.  The tournament is a full day event, starting with the opening ceremony at 9:30am in Red Hook, Brooklyn . We are guaranteed to play at least three games and more if we win. The day is sure to be fun-filled whether you’re a player or spectator, with an after party near the field to reward us for all of our hard work.  So if you’re looking to join our superstar team please RSVP to Monica at social@jetaany.org.

Last Saturday, about 80 new JETs and 30 JET alums gathered at the Nippon Club in Midtown Manhattan for the New York JET Pre-Departure Seminar. The seminar dealt with practical issues of life on JET, from what to expect on the job to what to do in Japan outside of school. See the complete set of photos on Flickr.
