Due to popular demand we have chosen to stay at the Summit Lodge, the hotel we stayed at two years ago. It features a pub, hot tub, etc. Complementary breakfast is also included.   • About thirteen high school students from Iwate Prefecture will be visiting NYC with their CIR, Yumie, later this month. We would like to invite JET alumni to join us for dinner. Reception with Iwate Students Monday, September 28th, 6pm to 8pm We’ll have an evening gathering at the Japan Local Government Office (3 Park Ave at 34th street) for a light dinner. Come listen to the students’ brief speeches and have a chance to talk with them one-on-one. We had a great time with the students last year- they’re part of a selective program to come to the U.S. to study English.     (9/28) Dinner with High School Students Visiting from Iwate!

    About thirteen high school students from Iwate Prefecture will be visiting NYC with their CIR, Yumie, later this month. We would like to invite JET alumni to join us for dinner. Reception with Iwate Students Monday, September 28th, 6pm to 8pm We’ll have an evening gathering at the Japan Local Government Office (3 Park Ave at 34th street) for a light dinner. Come listen to the students’ brief speeches and have a chance to talk with them one-on-one. We had a great time with the students last year- they’re part of a selective program to come to the U.S. to study English.   • JETAANY is setting sail on our annual sunset harbor cruise on Tuesday, August 11th on our own PRIVATE boat! In the past, we’ve had 150+ people in attendance.  For only $15 per person, enjoy a 2.5 hour sunset cruise departing from the East side and traveling around the southern end of Manhattan over to the Statue of Liberty and up the West side for amazing views of the New York skyline (and New Jersey).  Feel free to invite family, friends, and co-workers- this is a great introduction to the JET community!     JETAANY is setting sail on our annual sunset harbor cruise on Tuesday, August 11th on our own PRIVATE boat!   • We’re hosting a potluck picnic in Central Park with a Japanese nonprofit called Beyond Tomorrow. They have arranged a 10-day US visit for 9 students–6 high school, 3 college–who survived the 3/11 disaster. Three of them are from Ishinomaki or Rikuzentakata, towns devasted by the earthquake and tsunami and where the JETAA-USA Relief Funds went. They are hoping to meet JET Alumni as part of their experience here in New York (they will also be in Boston on their trip). Kenshiro Oshima from the East Japan Dream Project has invited two students from Miyagi to give presentations about their life in Tohoku after the events of March 2011. They are in NY for two weeks to study English and fisheries. They will be accompanied by their teacher and others from Japan and will be meeting with Tohoku JET alumni.
