“Getting Into International Work With the U.S. Government”

This webinar provided an introduction to international opportunities with the U.S. government, including Peace Corps, Fulbright, USAID and the U.S. Department of State. The presenters, Brenda McKinney and Luther Flagstad, met while serving on the National AJET Council together in 2008 and now both reside in New York City where they work in law and policy. This session especially focused on opportunities at USAID, the U.S. State Department, the United Nations, with Fulbright and Boren fellowships, and with the Peace Corps.
“So You Want a Japan-related Job After JET?”

This webinar, presented by Dan Lowe (President, New England JET Alumni Association and a staff member of the Student Services Department of Showa University in Boston), provided insight into the job-search process for Japan-related jobs after JET (or a city / career change), offered concrete tips, and provided an opportunity for questions.

JET Alumni Lee Uehara and Alex Varney hosted a conversation about starting a business, digital marketing/PR fundamentals, useful (and often free) online tools, and general things to keep in mind when bringing a product or service to life and marketing it. Lee is a serial entrepreneur with a string of businesses under her belt, and Alex provides PR, digital marketing, and event management services at an integrated digital marketing/communications firm.
“The American Dream Japanese Network (JaNet) and Connecting With the Japanese Community in New York”

JaNet (American Dream Japanese Network, Inc./d.b.a. JaNet) is a nonprofit organization that, under the slogan “Your network to achieve dreams in America!” supports a network for those living in the United States. In this webinar, JaNet discussed their work and ways to connect to the Japanese community in New York.
