A world-renowned performer, composer, and teacher of taiko, Kenny Endo is the vanguard of the Japanese taiko drumming genre. He is a consummate artist, blending Japanese taiko with rhythms influenced from around the world to create remarkable melodies and improvisation.
Kenny has assembled an all-star cast of master musicians to premiere his newest work “Gateway – ‘Ma’ vs Groove. Joining Kenny for this concert are Hitoshi Hamada (vibraphones, percussion), Kaoru Watanabe (shinobue, Nohkan, flute, taiko), Shoko Hikage(koto, dance), Tadayoshi Yasuda (shamisen), Chizuko Endo (taiko, percussion) and Miles Endo (taiko, djembe, percussion).
This concert is co-presented by the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and KyoDaiko Japanese taiko drummers of Philadelphia.
Tickets are $20 for Regular Admission, $16 for Friends of the Japanese House & Garden or $14 for Students & Seniors.
