What is Okonomiyaki?
Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients.
In Japan, there are two styles of Okonomiyaki, one is Osaka Style and the other is Hiroshima-Style.
In Osaka-Style okonomiyaki, chopped cabbage is mixed with the batter and cooked together.
In Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki, chopped cabbage is cooked on top of thinly spread batter. Also, yakisoba noodles are usually added in Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki.
What is Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki?
The ingredients for Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki are layers of batter, yakisoba noodle, cabbage, pork, fried egg and Oknomiyaki sauce called “Otafuku sauce” are grazed over Okonomiyaki. The main characteristic of H Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki is large amount of cabbage that is used.
